Has anyone seen or can anyone verify that 1960 "Second Series" of colors mentioned in Nolan Adams' ( vol. 1 page 308) actually were used. We have a chapter member who recently purchased a matching numbers 1960 that is Biege with Copper inserts. The NCRS Judging Manual makes no reference of this color. Any information or thoughts?? Re: 1960 "Second Series" Colors
Jim, when the Corvette Platform painted some cars in the 84-85 era with "special" colors for a review at the Desert proving Grounds, there was a special dealer service bulletin put out to provide the paint offset numbers as the cars were sold through regular channels avter the evaluation was completed. I have looked at my limited supply of service bulletins from the '60 era, but my set is not complete. This is the only way I can think of that this could have been "factory". I have a good collection of vintage paint charts from DuPont and PPG and neither mentions a "second Series". There was of course a copper color available in '60 for pass car applications, but no tan is shown. Good luck with the mystery.- Top
