I'm sure this question has been asked before but is there anyone who has some sense of what the C6, especially the ZO6 will bring to the market? I have a 2002 ZO6 and I'm sure there are some attributes that would cause me to dig deeper in my pocket for a new generation but given my experience with collectables, a '61 and a '66 big block I wonder about the romance versus the substantive differences. Thanks for your help.

Re: C6 - ZO6
The C6 Coupe will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January, and the Convertible will be introduced at the Geneva show in March. Both with be 2005 models available for retail delivery next summer. The Z06 will follow a year later as a 2006 model.
C6 Coupe and Convertible will weigh about 100 pounds less than present models and have about 400 HP from a new Gen IV LS2 6.0L V-8.
All new Corvette models will have revised styling with exposed headlights and "heritage" styling features such as "peak lines" on the fenders reminiscent of C2 and C3. The rear will also be a bit less bulky in appearance. Wheelbase is up 1.2" (same wheelbase as the new Cadillac XLR) and overall length is a little less than C5. I also expect some bright trim accents in the interior - more heritage touches! They will be unmistakeable as Corvettes.
The new Z06 will have curb weight just over 3000 pounds and a LS7 Gen IV V-8 with three valve heads and two in-block cams - one for inlet and one for exhaust, at least one of which will have variable timing. Power will be rated at or very near 500 HP, and EPA mileage ratings will be 19 city, 29 highway - your basic 3000 pound, 500 HP, "economy" sports car. Not bad!!!
All C6 models with have the magnetic variable shocks at least optional, if not base equipment, and new generation run flat tires, including new ultra high performance runflats for Z06.
Don't ask me how I know these things. Start putting all you loose change in a piggy bank. Prices will be up, but not substantially.

Great News!
I know the current C5 had a LOT of wind tunnel input to it's design making it look similar to other 'aero efficient' body designs (e.g. Ferrari).... But, each time I see one go by all I can do is think of Aunt Jemima bent over taking something out of the oven with that MASSIVE, bulbous rear end. There's a point where styling fights with functionality and just maybe, styling ought to win sometimes. Heck, that's purportedly one of the advantages of 'soft tooling' in fiberglass; we can change it quickly/easily!- Top
