    3606 carb advice

I'm trying to decide whether spend the bucks to restore my 3606 carb 3892341-EA, date 793, for my 66 390hp A.I.R. car (s/n 5810), or look for a correct date carb.
Any estimate of what my carb would be worth in its present condition? It's still functional but it's time for a rebuild. I believe this carb is correct for a 67 390hp A.I.R. motor and is probably somewhat rare as I think it is unique to CA cars.
Are there any numbers other than what is on the horn that I should be concerned with?
    Thanks for your help.

    Re: 3606 carb advice

67 390 k19 carb is a 3815, not a 3606. you're 3606 dated 1967.9th month, 3rd week is a service replacement holly and since it won't work for a 67 bb owner, its worth what any holly 4160 is worth--one to two hundred bucks.what you need is gonna be a lot saltier. good luck, mike

Try this guy for a 3606...

I aquired my Dec '65 dated 3606 from Craig Bartling (carbguy@earthlink.net) about 2 years ago. Craig is a craftsman and did a beautiful job on the carb - bolted it on, did a few minor tweeks and ran awesome right out of the box. He said the 3606's were hard for him to come by at the time so I'm sure it's even more tough to find them now. Think I paid $550 for it completely rebuilt - all numbers parts and finishes were correct - so I consider myself lucky. My car (#11521 K19 L36) came with a '66 dated 3370, non AIR carb. Sold that carb for around $325.

About the same time, I did find a couple 3606 65/66 dated carbs at Chicago Corvette supply, but they were about $250-$300 more. I suspect they're even more scarce and expensive now, but you could give them a try as well.

Thanks for your help Dan. I just sent Craig a note to see if he has anything available.
