Do you have the '73 Assembly Manual? It has a complete wiring diagram in UPC 12. I only have diagrams through '72, but the '72 should be similar. You'll have a 12-ga. purple wire (with a molded-in fusible link) to the "S" terminal (from the neutral safety switch - activates the starter), a 20-ga. yellow wire to the "R" terminal (12V feed to the coil while cranking), and a 12-ga. red wire to the large battery cable stud with a molded-in fusible link that becomes a 14-ga. dark brown after the fusible link (main power feed to the horn relay bus and to the inside of the car).- Top

Re: Starter/Solenoid Confusion
In addition to what John gave you, the ring terminal on the black ground wire goes under the bolt holding the starter to the block, usually the outboard bolt.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Starter/Solenoid Confusion
Large frame ground wire you mentioned connects to the block with the bolt that secures the starter brace to the block. The other end of this frame/engine ground wire connects to the hole in the frame in the area just below the engine motor mount where the motor mount attaches to the frame. This is the way it is on my 68 and 70.- Top
