    Trunk mat repair

I just purchased a NOS red trunk mat for my 62. There is a small tear on the inside corner, has anyone had expierence with a repair or a shop that they can recommend to mend this? Thanks, the mat is perfect except for this slit.

i would not trust anybody, myself included, to repair a NOS 62 trunk mat. let it be, have it judged as is, and if it truely is NOS, the deductions will be minimal. screw with it and the deductions could be major. mike

Is the trunk mat NOS or NORS?
NOS will have the part number stamped in black ink.
New Old Replacement Stock (GM--just not exactly like original) will have the part number molded in.
True originals and NOS are absolutely the rarest of the rare in any kind of usable condition.

Rev: i thought the 61-62 black trunk mats were embossed with PN. , and the colored mats were ink stamped as you note. mike

            Mike and Gary--
You are correct. He did say that he had a red trunk mat, and that is what I was responding to.
Blacks were molded, red, beige, and blue were stamped with black ink.

Mike, This mat was purchased in the late 60's from a chevy dealer parts inventory. The red mat has the embossed part number with white stencil numbers on the reverse (black) side. Has to be a service replacement part, thanks. Any repair ideas?

                Re: Trunk mat repair

i suspect the deduct for a nors mat with a slight tear would be nearly identical to that which a non-tear nors mat would be so i probably wouldn't waste time trying to come up with a bonding agent for the rubber mat as i haven't had any success trying to repair one in the past. mike
