    exhaust

    can someone explain to me the proper exhaust for a 245 hp automatic i believe its 2" no crossover oval mufflers is there supposed to be a heat riser if so which side? where is it supposed to welded?

        your 59 245 hp exhaust system uses 2" header pipes, no cross-over pipe, and the heat riser valve goes on pass side between exhaust manifold and header pipe.Where is what supposed to be welded? i'm not aware of any welding needed to install an exhaust system on a c-1. some welding is needed for the muffler inlet and outlet but that's done at factory. as far as configuration of mufflers goes, the off-roads were round and the base mufflers were oval. good luck, mike

          i called 3 places and know all are telling me because the car is not a base model that it shoulsd have a cross over in the exhaust
          i dont mean to question you mike but now im more confused

            If you look at the assembly manual for RPO 469, note one indicates the HP Tach and exhaust crossover as being unique to the HL cam or 270 hp version only. Sheet 1. The note was added in January of '60, so I can't verify the '59 application, but lacking a special instruction, the default would be the standard exhaust. (No Crossover)
