    1966 ignition wiring

Should the spark plug wires, on the top of the distributor cap, be arranged so the
    # 8 & 4 plugs straddle the right hold clip, and the # 5 & 7 plugs straddle the left
hold clip. Shouldn't the hold clips be perpendicular the the engine crank axis ?
Mine are about 30-40 degrees off clockwise. It backfires but won't start, HELP !
    Thanks,
    Clyde

Clyde - as you look down at the distributor cap from the top, the terminal next to the window in the cap CLOCKWISE from the window is cylinder number 1. The rest, as you proceed clockise, are 8436572 in firing sequence, so cyl 2 is next to the window on the counterclockwise direction. Hope this helps...Craig

      Cylde,
For information about your ignition problem, check out the post thread titled "Only the Tech Savvy Apply." You can access it through the archive section.

It will get your distributor correctly installed and have you running in no time.

      Good luck,
      Gene
