    Interior upgrade?

Quick and easy, although I may get 50% saying one thing and another 50% saying another.

Is it heresy for me to convert my "standard" iterior with 80/20 loop carpet and vinyl seats to "deluxe" with cut pile and leather seats? I do not want to "customize" my car but I am hopeing that upgrading withing the vette factory options would be legitimate.

I do not have the build sheets however the original carpet and seats were that of the standard option.

I also do not plan on getting the car judged but agian I want the car to be an original vette.

    Thank you,
    Brandon

    Brandon-----

If you change the interior as you suggest, then you car's interior will no longer match the interior code found on the trim tag. This will be cause for a significant "hit" if you ever have the car judged. Also, it might reduce the car's value since "originality"= value with respect to Corvettes.

If neither of the above-referenced are a problem for you and you're just interested in what pleases you, then, by all means, do as you wish. I'm, personally, opposed to most modifications on Corvettes but those that stay consistent with factory-like or factory installed configurations are ok with me.

Thank you Joe. I tried to e-mail you directly but had trouble. The questions were the same and I added the fact that I appriciate your time and effort.

You do help my work out my thought process. I think I will stay with the original trim tag specs. I am finding that this is more of figureing out weather to follow your mind or your heart,or to even figure out if they both are telling you the same thing, more than it is a mechanical process.

Side note-- I do not have a copy of the original build sheets. They are not with the car any longer. Is there a way to obtain them from any source or am I just out of luck.

      Thank you,
      Brandon

There is no source for the original build recorde for your car unless, possibly, if it was originally delivered new to Canada. Lots of folks have asked/will ask the same question and, unfortunately, the answer is always the same. Someday, it may change, but I doubt it.
