There is a condensor mounted on the coil bracket. I need to replace it. The wire that attaches to the coil has become brittle and broken off. I tried to read the part number on it, but it's on the under side (bottom) and even with a mirror it's still difficult to read. The part# looks like 5247481 with DR in the middle and some other number which look like PM5. I could take it off, but I'm still not sure if it is the original or a replacement. Can someone tell me what the correct part number for the condensor and any suggestion as to where to get an original replacement?
The capacitor attached to the ignition coil is for radio interference suppression purposes. The original capacitor installed on your 69 was GM #1947452. That piece was discontinued more than 20 years ago. The 70 style condensor, GM #1852715, will work, but its configuration is different. It's also discontinued, but more recently than the 1947452.
I don't know if these capacitors are reproduced, or not.
