    PILLAR BRACE COLOUR

On 1963 Coupe, the HINGE PILLAR BRACE, where the ID Plates are attaches, what is the finishing colour, is it semi gloss black, or is it the zinc chromate greenyellow in colour, what are the judges looking for. Danny #38266

I can't tell you what it should be, but I can tell you what mine is. It is mainly black on the passenger side, with surface rust along the bottom edge, probably because the paint was too thin. The black is dull, not flat, but dull like in very old. It may shine if it was polished, but I don't know.

The driver's side mostly is red, probably overspray when painted new. The black begins just slightly left of the center console.

On the passenger side next to the pillar, there is red again, overspray from painting the pillar.

Where the serial number tag is attached, the bar is rusted with grinder marks where the paint was cleared off to spot weld the tag.

    Hope that helps.
