i need the correct g.m. part number for a 1966 corvette, 327, 350hp, balancer. is it gm part number 3896903? thank you.

Brian, Check the archives I asked same quesstions on 67. As I remember high horse were common 62 thru 68.

The correct harmonic balancer for your 1966 L-79 is GM #3817173. This is an 8" balancer which was originally used on 63-65 L-76 and L-84 engines. It was also used on 1965-67 L-79 engines. The original version of this balancer had fin-like casting reinforcements on the internal surface of the crankshaft ring. Although this balancer part number is still available in service from GM, the fin-like reinforcements are no longer used.
