    1970 Master Cylinder

On Master Cylinder in manual brakes 70'. What finish have the bolts fastening it to the firewall? What are your advices in the MC bleeding. After or before assemblying? This unit has bleeder screws. Thanks. Best from Argentina Roberto NCRS #30019 RMC

    Re: 1970 Master Cylinder

    Roberto,

The mounting bolts on my non-power master cylinder of my '70 are natural finish. I recommend bleeding the MC before mounting onto the firewall. The bleeder screws are also natural finish and they are not stainless steel. I think it may be possible to bleed the MC while on the car with the MC at a level position using the bleeder screws but I think it will be easier to do it off the car while mounted on a vice. The color of the MC is semi-flat black with no paint on the machined surfaces around the bleeder screws, brakelines, and front surface where "DC" is stamped (for standard MC).

You could also mount it on the car (level) and with a bleeder tube kit bleed it with the lines disconnected and then reconnect the lines one at a time.
