    C3 1980 Power Antenna

I'm trying to determine if the antenna for my AM/FM without CB is original or correct. The black plastic case is embossed Delco Electronics USA. There is a paper label on the gold anodized bottom with the following: 22048905 & 120 98A. Looking at the "ball" on the mast top it seems not correct. Also the lower case halfs are clipped. I don't know if the clips or rivets are correct for this antenna.

I don't think that it is an original antenna assembly.

Usually, the paper tag on these units does contain the assembly part number. However, I don't think that GM #22048905 would have been the original part number for your application. I can't find any reference in the GM parts system for this antenna part number. It's possible that it was a PRODUCTION-only part number, but, as I say, I doubt it. Also, it's possible that it is a Delco parts system-only item. Usually, these items are a "one-size-fits-all" type of thing. Check for any signs of "standardized" mounting hardware.

The GM part number for the original SERVICE antenna for your application was GM #22020522. It's possible that this was the original PRODUCTION part number, too. Later SERVICE replacements for the original were GM #22020508 and GM #22038652. The 22038652 was the last GM parts system antenna available for your application and it was discontinued in July, 2000.

Thanks for the input Joe. Can you tell me should the correct antenna halfs have clips or rivets ?

I don't know the answer to that. I suspect rivets, but I don't know that, for sure.
