A car I am looking at purchasing has a cut in the seat leather. The cut is about 1 1/2 inches long. Can this be patched effectively ( so that you cannot see it ) or does the seat have to come off and be recovered.
If you place your thumb and forefinger at either end of the cut, and spread your fingers slightly. The cut should close pretty evenly. Now, if as you are doing this, you put on crazy glue wood and leather cement, and hold it for several minutes, you should have a solid repair, and if you avoid getting glue all over the place, it will look like a normal leather crease. Beats getting new covers.
Allow me to elaborate on a repair that would be "the same, only different" To maintain the integrity of the torn area consider removing the cover enough to expose the back side of the cut. THEN apply a reiforcement piece to the back side as you bond the edges back together on the surface. A small piece of scrap leather should work just fine for the backup piece. Good Luck. PS, if it does not work just cut the other seat in the same place and swear it is factory correct. (kidding)
