    Wiper assembly year

    Riddle me this Bat Man

I had a complete wiper assembly given to me for my 68 but as soon as I saw it, I knew it had to be a later unit as the wiring was all wrong.

The gent stated that he was going to throw it away if I didn't want it soooooo, being the kind hearted pack rat that I am, took it off his hands.

On the aluminum housing it states "Delco" with the address and #4960754

Glued on the motor, there was a heavily painted tag that I was able to clean up enough to see #4960974 and then under it was #219 8 1A

I'm lost, any ideas what year car this things out of?

    Thanks for the help.

    Chuck------

The GM #4960974 wiper motor was originally used on 1974 through 1982 Corvettes. So, the one you have came from one of those year models. The last part of the number series found on the label may be a date code. If so, this one came out of a 1981 Corvette. But, it really makes no difference; the 74-82 motors were the same.

      Re: Thanks Joe

I figured that this would be a no brainer for someone who knew what they were looking at.

Thanks again for taking the time to satisfy my curiosity.

My 70-72 JG is not here so I will go out on a limb and work from memory:
        #219 8 1A
219 is the julian date and 81 is the year of manufacture? When I get my JG I will see how far off base I am.
