    C1 HD brake question

Hi. I am in the process of reassembling a 57 with the HD brakes and have a question about the backing plate mounting. Are there spacers on the bottom between the steering knuckle and the backing plate like on the top ?

I've read two articles that say there was an 1/8 inch spacer on the bottom, but when I took it apart there were none.

When I turn the wheel all the way in one direction the bolt for the brake scoops contacts the nut on the lower control arm. Also the knuckle is right up against the backing plate. The backing plate does'nt seem to fit flush with the spindle. It seems that the 1/8 spacer would solve all of this.

    Any input appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bob

No spacers on the bottom. The top spacers are longer than on a regular brake car. If you don't use the correct length spacer the drum will hit the backing plate.
