    A 63/64 on ebay?????

Sorry if this has been discussed, but has anyone seen #2437793393 on ebay, a "1963 Corvette" that they later admit is a 1964? They say its a rare "63/64" built in April 1963!!!!

No, no, it says it was ORDERED in April, 1963 and DELIVERED in October 1963. It is without question a 1964 model, built in 1963 just like roughly 8090 other 1964 models were. Nothing rare or unusual about that part.

The 1963/64 is some twist that Virginia puts on their registration. However, the scanned copy is so small, I can't read it, so it could be anything, like "year registered/Model year" or who knows.

All you have is some used car dealer (you are aware of such?) who is putting a spin on it to make it seem more attractive.

It appears to simply be an old Corvette that was basically just driven, maybe maintained, and a treasure trove of information. Financially, it reeks of lots of money to restore to get it nice. Practically, it should be shown as is so that the information can be obtained and recorded before restoration destroys it.

      I e-mailed the seller and pointed out it's a '64, not a '63, and he responded that "It's titled as a '63 and that's the way we'll sell it."

You should have pointed out the one in Fort Lauderdale titled as a Chevelle and how the police took an active interest.

States have so many schemes on titles that what is on a title is meaningless to the value of a car. They tactfully gave such a poor quality scan of the title, we have no idea what that 63/64 is in reference to as you can't read the field name. However, it appears that there is a two-part field, so the 63 could be year titled, year taxed (VA has personal property taxes), or anything and the 64 could be the model year.

Turn him into eBay for misrepresenting the car.

          Yeah, a coupla points...

Unless he has a "1964 1/2" Mustang (all Mustangs built in 1964 April-December were titled by Ford as "1965" models) or some such manufacturer fiction, he is mis-representing the car. I think we can all agree, for instance, the guys who pre-ordered the anniversary models did not receive "2001 50th anniversary" Corvettes. This idiot is apparently confusing "invoice date" with "model year".

As to the other, I saw a car in FL years ago which was brought in for an estimate. While trying to determine if the car was 63, 64, or 66 from visible characterisics, someone noticed it was titled with a 67 Camaro VIN. Caused a lot of "official" attention.

            63/64 - Didn't sell

Looks like his ploy of making it seem very rare didn't work. While it would be neat to find one that was basically unmolested and left alone for the last 40 years, it was going to take quite a bit of work.

I usually feel a bit better when the sharks on eBay don't sell their items after they have been less than honest on the descriptions.
