    Wittek hose clamps

    Members,
A friend of mine gave me two Wittek hose clamps that I would like to know if they are Corvette or what "used on".

They are stainless steel, thumb screw type. Size is appropriate for C2 upper and lower radiator hoses. Smaller clamp is marked AN-737, 66 (underlined), 1/48. Larger clamp is AN-737, 74, 3/48. Both are also marked FBSS and have pat. nos.

    Thanks,
    Gene

Makes me wonder if the 1/48 and 3/48 designations don't represent the first and third quarters of 1948.... Chuck

I was suspecting the same thing. Haven't seen these clamps in years.

          Chuck,
I got to thinking about the date code possibility. It would make sense based about what we know about Wittek. It's coincidental that they are the exact size of the upper & lower C2 clamps. The thumb screw feature is difficult to understand if they are radiator hose clamps.

I suspect that these NOS clamps are ultra-rare cooling system clamps for a 1948 Corvette!?

          Thanks for your input.

          Best regards,
          Gene
