Re: C1-Fuel Injection Drive Cable
Rob,
I can't confirm your number but I don't think you will get it from GM. It should be easy to get from any of the F.I. specialists - DeGregory, Podell, etc. Good idea to carry one, I do ('60 7017320 unit). Don H.- Top

It depends
What you want to do is match the cable housing (casing) you have on your unit.
Chevrolet made three different length cables for '57 - '65 FI units. Part #1585719 was the "1st design". This cable was about 6-1/4" long and used an outer casing that was about 5-3/4" long.
The 2nd design cable assembly is relatively rare. I don't have a sample to measure. It was introduced in the late fifties and was quickly replaced by the 3rd design. The 3rd design cable is part #6409698. It's about 6-5/8" long and uses a casing that is about 6-1/8" long.
The dimensional relationship of the distributor to the fuel meter never really changed. However, I would encourage you to use the long 3rd design cable and housing if you have a choice. It gives you a better bite in the pump shaft. That lessens the chance of shaft cracking or cable rounding.- Top
