Considering how much it will cost to paint, I'll give you $35 and pay for Greyhound shipping. That is what I paid for the last '66 BB hood I bought.

I've seen some NOS hoods and some big block hoods go on eBay for $400-$500 but most hoods seem to hover in the $200 range. Of course, eBay is often low on items like this since you can't see and you risk the rip off.

    A 67 BB recently went for $700.

      The kicker...

      ...is when it was made.

During '66 production I'm sure the new hoods sold by Chevy dealers were exactly like those used on the assembly line. After 1966? Well, let's just say the quality changed.

By the late seventies most body shops preferred to install used assembly line Corvette hoods rather than the new hoods sold by GM Parts. The used hoods would actually fit the hood opening properly and have a contour similar to the fenders.

Not sure when it was made. It was found in a Corvette repair shop that is going out of business due to the owner's health. It has been there since the mid seventies for sure, because it was behind some equiptment that hadn't been moved since before he started working there.

a real 1966 era produced 66 big block hood will be light gray in color and not of a shiney smooth surface texture like the ones sold over the counter in the 70s. such an orig NOS hood would probably be priced about 1k at carlisle. the 70's NORS wouldn't be worth but about 200. mike

check & see what type of rivets are holding the hinge & pin hardware & what type of hood support mounts. If it has large flat or rounded rivits & not pop rivits that is good. Also check the rear corners for wear. I bought 3 new gm 66 BB hoods at Bloomington in about1980 for 150.00 each. they were very wavy I agree good used is better. I traded one of mine for a used 65 BB. If it has the good rivits it should be worth about 700.00...Bill
