    Canadian delivered build date info

Does anyone out there have any feel for how accurate the "build dates" are that are on the documentation for Corvettes delivered to Canada. The documentation for Canadian cars includes the date the car was "built", but there is some belief that this date in not really accurate. At least one person has expressed the opinion that this "build date" is actually the date that the car is delivered to Canada.

Anyone know what the real story is here?

Ed --- If you can E-mail or post the model year you're looking at, and whether you have a photocopy of the microfilm record (which includes 20 or so other imports), I can then be more specific in my response. The "Arrival and Shipping" records format varied from '63 to '73 (the examples I have), and for the past few years, I hear from others that GM Canada now provides only a freshly printed summary of the data for the specific car requested.

But I can say that for the years that the form used a column heading "production date", it is NOT the St.Louis final assembly (out the plant door) date, but lags by about 10 days (probably the time to accumulate a railcar load and ship to Canada). In most cases, the "Arrival/Production" date is the same as the shipping date, and the shipping date may not be the day it left St.Louis, but when it was ready to be sent on to Canadian dealers.

I agree with the delay dates. I figured my 62 to be built Oct 10th /61 and Gm states Oct 26th.
