Re: C2 Dashpad Installation
I used a very flexible putty knife. I ground off the sharp corners and dulled the blade and corners with the wire wheel on the grinder. After that it just took time and patience.
The process took the smooth top layer of the rubber padding off. In other words the smooth surface of the rubber stayed on the covers but this was a very thin surface. I have yet to glue the new covers on because I cannot decide whether to glue them to the porous surface or try to create a smooth surface with some type of rubber material. The padding also had a couple of voids in it not related to the removal.
Does anyone have any good ideas for a material to skim coat the surface with?
Good luck.

Re: C2 Dashpad Installation
When I replaced my dash pads a couple of years ago I used reproduction pads. The foam in the old pads was to hard and dried out to try and reuse. I was concerned if I used new skins on the old foam I would be doing this job again in the near future.
The reproduction pads were not exactly the same thickness as the originals. The passengers side could be forced into position by tightning the two bolts. The drivers side was very difficult to position properly.- Top
