C3 Convertible Deck Lid handles/Latches

Hi, Is all the hardware underneath the convertible deck lid, including the latches, handles and cable supposed to be natural or painted the color of the car? Thanks

The release handles and mechanism, the bowden cables from the release handle to either side of the decklid, and all brackets/plates which were riveted to the deck lid were more-or-less painted body color. All other hardware, rods, latches, etc. were not painted and were finished as-supplied.
