    Re: 75 alarm system

The alarm system should be armed by simply turning the lock on the left front fender. There's nothing else to do.

There are four switches on the '75 that can activate the alarm:

    - One in the engine bay (on the firewall) to detect the hood being opened.

    - One in each door (which double as the courtesy light switches) to detect a door being opened.

    - One protecting the alarm lock (inside the fender) to detect if someone is attempting to tamper with the alarm on/off switch.

First I'd check the wiring to the on/off switch there in the fender.

Then I'd check out the wiring to each of the switches and the operation of each switch.

I'd then check the wiring to the alarm horn (located behind the left rear wheelwell).

If the wiring checks out, and since the horn works, I'd check the relay and flasher unit located in the box that contains the jack. Since these alarms had no provision for shutting off once the alarm was going, they would continue to sound off until the owner came along, the battery went dead, the horn burned out, or the relay died.

    Good luck.
