Our 64 came with an old set of clear floor mats and we were wondering if they might be original. They have the bowtie on top and the bottoms are marked "RMP 1713 1" and "RMP 1714 2".Thanks Don #31753.

Re: Original 64 Clear Floor Mats ???
Don----
Floor mats, clear or otherwise, are not "original" on early Corvettes since the cars were not supplied with them as an option or standard equipment. However, they could be purchased "over the counter" in Chevrolet dealerships and many Corvettes got a set the day they were driven off by their new owners, either as a gift from an appreciative salesperson or direct purchase by the customer.
The clear floor mats you described WERE the ones you got in the mid to late 60s when you went to the Chevy dealer parts department. So, in that sense, your floor mats are likely "original". I got a set myself the very day I picked up my new 1969, September 30, 1969. I used them for years until I got tired of their "stiffness" when the car was cold. I still have them, though. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
