Hi Folks,

I'm just looking for some general information. The plate on my door frame which lists the paint and interior code says I have a Chevrolet "G03" what is that? Also I have an AM/FM stereo radio with casette. Is that original? My car is a 71 convertible with air/auto/CJK engine code/400 THM. Whatever information anyone could give would be appreciated.

The trim plate embossment of "G 03" represents the "body build date" of your car. In this case, that means the 7 month of production for your model year and the 3rd day of that month. For 1971, I believe that production started in August, 1970, so "G" would mean February, 1971.

No 1971 Corvette was ever originally produced with an AM/FM stereo radio WITH CASSETTE, so the unit cannot be original to the car. Cassette radios were first offered in Corvettes for the 1979 model year. 8 track tapes were first offered for 1977, though, so some Corvettes had tape music play capability prior to 1979.
