When a car is judged, is there any specific orientation of the tie rod clamps and/or bolts that is looked for. The assembly manual seems to call for the left inner clamp to be orientated a specific way, but not the others. (I have a power steering car)

Re: 67 TIE ROD CLAMP ORIENTATION
Rob, judges definitely look for an specific orientation of the tie rod end clamps on early C3s. I don't know if this also true on mid-years. On C3s, the presence of power steering DOES effect the position of ONLY the left inboard clamp (UPC N40, Sheet A3).
On C3s, the AIM shows both outboard clamps facing horizontally rearward (bolt to the rear) plus/minus 45 degrees.
WITHOUT POWER STEERING, the left inboard clamp is specified as facing rearward and down (bolt to rear and down) at 45 degrees (no tolerance given). When the car is equipped WITH POWER STEERING, the left inboard clamp (only) is oriented vertically downward (bolt on the bottom) plus/minus TEN DEGREES.
The AIM gives no specification for the right inboard clamp in notes or additional details, but the drawing shows the clamp being oriented vertically downward (bolt on the bottom).- Top
