This is probably a simple issue but does anybody know how to remove the existing headlight switch assembly in a '60 in order to replace it? I have the new one but cannot figure out how to remove th old one from the dash.

Re: '60 headlight switch
Jerry, I believe you will find on the underside of the switch what I will call a little long neck rivet looking part with a little spring wound around it. Locate this first. Pull the light knob out to the headlight position. Next, push the rivet STRAIGHT up, totally compressing the spring. Pull the headlight knob straight out. If you cock the rivet or the knob rod or have outward force on the knob when you press the rivet, the knob will fight release from the switch. Hope this helps.- Top

Re: '60 headlight switch
Once you have the knob and rod out,it will probably be obvious, but in case it isn't, there is a threaded "nut" inside the bezel. You can turn it with a very wide bladed screwdriver. There is a special tool made for this, but a wide enough screwdriver will sufice. The hollow "nut" screws out of the switch. Disconnect your battery prior to doing any of this. Otherwise, when you remove the knob and rod, the lights will stay on. Also, you risk shorting something when you remove the wires from the old switch, since you may have to pry the connector off with a small screwdriver. When you have replaced the switch and reversed your proceedure, simply replace the rod in the switch and press it in all the way. you don't have to hold in the little "rivet" on the bottom of the switch.- Top
