    '67 tank sheet

In tracing the heritage of my '67 I came across a photo copy of the tank sticker from a prior owner whom I called. The photo copy seem to be shot from the real tank sticker-but who knows. The one item that bothered me about the sticker was the expected production date was shown as 3-17-67 on the tank sheet and a tag date of 3-27-67 is inside the car. Is this type of delay possible?

Also the dealer code shows as 784 in zone 22. Does anyone have any knowledge of where this is?

    Thank You for your help

        Re: '67 tank sheet

Al Greening points out in his presentations that the expected production date was always a friday. I didn't check but hopefully it is. Apparently the counterfeiters make this mistake all the time and it is an obvious error.

Thanks for your help it seems that 3-17-67 is a Friday. I suspect what I am looking at is orginal even though there is no proof.

James, your experience perfectly illustrates a couple of the reasons why I think removing tank sheets from tanks is a bad idea.

You, as the current owner of this vehicle, have more right to own the original tank sheet than any of the previous owners, yet all you possess is a "photocopy" of the original sheet. You're lucky to have that, and even then, you have to guess if this photocopy is authentic to your car.

I suppose one of the previous owners now has a momento of a car he used to own residing happily in a safe deposit box somewhere...or worse, his heirs threw it out when they emptied his closet.

All this presumes, of course, that you have checked the tank and the tank sheet is not there.

Mike, that typo also apears on my order copy (Tank sticker). VIV 7471
Ident No. 808621 date recvd. 12-09-66 exp. dt. of prod. 01-20-66. I wonder when they noticed. Probably when 68's went into production.

                      67 Tank Stickers

My sticker is in a landfill in Western, VA. Mike's son's socker coach replaced the tank in about 1972 (#14403, 3/20). #17013 was just pulled from an old garage in my area, seems to be very original except for paint and added sidepipes (imagine that), protecto plate in glove box, Cincinatti, Ohio. Were these cars ever rented by Hertz? Can't wait to check the tank sticker, engine stamped 411HE.
