    72 dash screws

I recently had my heater core replaced and the shop installed both stainless
head screws and screws with a black paint type covering on some.

What is the correct screw look like in appearance and where can these correct
    screws be purchased?

What color is your interior? My original owner 70 has chrome and black screws that I removed when I replaced my heater core and I have black interior. The black screws secure the top of the map pocket dash pad and the rest are chrome.

The visible screws in the left and right dash pad are interior color. The gage console screws are polished(chrome).

The screws across the dash pads are painted interior color as stated. The four that hold the gauge cluster are polished chrome. The four on the corners of the top console plate are black oxide. On original cars, we have have found some are flathead; some are oval head. I think this is spelled out clearly in the JG.

Reba on my original owner 68 and 70, the console 4 screws are panhead. The console screws I believe we are referencing are the screws that hold the console which houses the fan blower switch and has a hole in it for the shifter.

Thanks to everyone regarding the interior screws.
Just a little followup to the last comment when his heater core was replaced.
I had my heater core replsced by a large corvette shop in Louisiana and they
called to say the core is installed, (4th one attempted) however "we have a problem, your cars interior caught on fire".
Yes, this is a true story. Shop claimed it was a short in the radio.
Now they did install the radio just a few weeks before. however the shop
denied any fault, saying the radio caused the fire. They wouldn't even have
their shop insurance look at the car.
Well $4000 dollars damage later it is been fixed by another shop.
I removed the car from the shop of horrors as soon as my insurance adjuster
examined the car. I was able to inspect the heater core installation and it
showed a 30 amp horn relay (orange) wire had been pinched from inside
the firewall from a attaching nut. This is the only nut for the heater box
to be removed. The box has 3 other screws attached from inside the passenger compartment.
The moral of this is many stories: get references, stay with car if possible,
purchase a halatron exstingsher (a whole nother story), bring a friend 4eyes
2 heads are better. I could write a whole chapter on my repair experiences.
