    C2 cluster rebuild

I am in the process of rebuilding my instrument cluster in a 65. I recall (I think)that there was some kind of insulation or sealant around the gauge lenses. I can't remember if it was between the lens and housing or the lens and gauge face or both? Or am I dreaming? If it did have something, what should I use as a replacement?

On my 63 there was a black material between the lens and the cluster housing. There are 4 small grooves in the housing at each lense. The material was in the grooves. I used some rope caulk that I got at a hardware store. It seemed to be the correct texture. It feels like puddy.

There are small rectangular rubber insulators---three around each small lens, and four around each of the 2 large lenses. Not sure if the large parts houses have them. Maybe somebody like LICorvettes Doc Rebuild, or Chicago Corvette. If not, the better rebuilders will sell you a set: that's where I got mine.

Check the ZIP products web site under technical articles for a step by step set of instructions with pictures of a C2 cluster rebuild.
