    '59 Corvette Registry

Just wanted to let the '59 owners know that a gentleman has started a 1959 Corvette Registry. It's still in it's infancy but already has several high profile cars/people signed on like Chip Miller and his Purple People Eater. No cost. Just a listing of cars by serial number with names and links to the owners web page. There is a survey form in the future that should help gather info from cars that have not been seen by the NCRS yet. The link is listed below.

Tom - All these "Registery's" may be great, wonderful things. My only concern is what purpose do they necessarily fulfill? If the information is gathered and then shared with the NCRS National Team Leader or National Judging Chairman, then maybe that information may be used to enhance and improve our Judging Manuals. If it is not shared, and or utilized, then what purpose do they serve? And how do we know the self proclaimed "Registery" person will ever share any of that information? DC

      Mr. Clark I agree

I went to the 63-67 Registry and could not find a bit of info. Maybe I missed it, but I'll stand corrected if it is there. It was a disappointment. If anyone doubts, go look yourself. I don't have the url. Just type 63-67 registry into google, that's what I did.

Obviously any registry is only as good as the people running it. If they loose interest or it becomes too much work it will suffer. I hope this doesn't happen in this case. So far everything he has gathered is right there on the site for all to see. The survey he is contemplating will be mostly about how your car was equipped when new (your best guess in many cases). Other items of interest can be queried as they pop up. Results will be on the site and updated as they come in. I would hope some of this would be of use to the team leader or that he would ask that the registrants be polled on a question that has come up on the judging field. The more cars documented the more accurate the results. I'm amazed at the number of solid axle owners showing up on the big web sites that are not NCRS or SACC members. There must be a lot of cars out there we have never seen on a judging field.

Personally, having owned the same '59 since August of '69 I really enjoy looking at the other registrant's web pages and seeing what serial numbers are popping up. If he ever starts to let it die I'll be there to pick it up. This is something I have had an interest in for a long time.

Hey Tom - Sounds like maybe this one IS working. My experience dealt mostly with pre web site stuff. It was when people still used the mail. They would send in their stuff and that would be the end of it. The guy that got the stuff had it, but it was often times never shared or utilized for the good of the hobby. Dennis

I know what you mean there Dennis. How many times have you crawled all under and around your car writing down numbers and sending off surveys never hearing from them again? One of the best out there is the L81 Registry. A good bunch of people dedicated to the last carbed car. They had a very well attended meeting at the NCM last year for sharkfest on labor day and even dedicated their own brick. Many of them are NCRS too. The Corvette Action Center hosts an online Q&A forum for them under the C3 section and their site is growing with info all the time. Hard to believe that one year of Shark has such a dedicated following. I hope this type of registry is the future for registries.
