It appears that for the first time, the car's vin# is shown on these documents starting with the '71 model year Corvette. Does anyone know why it is printed backwards to the rest of the printed information. At least this verifies the document to be for a particular vehicle and why didn't this start sooner?

Often, because of the shuffle of the multi-part documents, carbon from the (later-added) VIN and other info would print through (in reverse) on the face of the Corvette Order Copy; this happened while the documents were dislodged from the carbon folder and grouped together before application and disposition. Internal document procedures evolved over the years as the order tracking and production scheduling systems improved.- Top

Re: Corvette Order Copy question
Thanks, John. I thought so, with the carbon appearance on the back of this sheet, that is what happened. I guess we ('71 owners and later?) are fortunate that GM started this procedure, I noticed this was not shown on '70 and earlier "tank stickers".- Top
