OK, I admit it, somewhere in the move we lost the distributor for the 57 FI engine. That's what I get for moving this thing in pieces, no lectures please. ha ha. I need the distributor AND generator, any leads appreciated! Thanx. Terry

There were four distributors used with 1957 FI units: 889, 905, 906, and 908. If your car is a middle of the model year, manual trans 283hp car, you want the 905. They are now going for $1,200 to $1,500 in good working condition. You may be able to find a 906 (for an automatic) for less than a thousand.
I know that John DeGregory doesn't have any '57 distributors for sale right now. Most FI rebuilders keep them with '57 units for sale. Jim Neuffer in New York might sell one though.
There was a 905 with a '61 275hp unit on eBay this week. The auction got bid up to $3,000, but didn't meet reserve. This unit is probably still available. I can't really recommend buying that unit for the distributor, however. That particular series would be hard to resell without a distributor for anything close to $2,000.
In your shoes I would take another look through the boxes to find my old distributor. Everything has to be someplace. Unless it was stolen or fell off the truck, it has to be in your new house.Comment

The eBay FI seller is Dave Brazelton in Sacramento, CA. I can give you his phone number if you want to ask about buying his 905 distributor separate from the fuel injection unit. I don't know if he'll consider doing that, however.Comment

Just as a matter of reference, Chicago Corvette lists both a 905 and 906 distributer in their catalog for a mear $1795 each. Like Jerry said earlier, I'd be looking real hard for the original!!Comment
