It is my understanding that the original paint applied at the factory was polished only on the top (from the body centerline up). I was told that from the centerline down was left as applied showing more 'orange peel' than the top. Is this true?

The St Louis plant sanded the runs ,dirt,very lightly and gave the upper pnls about a 5 minute buff job. if it required more than that it went to the repair area where they were repaired "spotted in" thinner washed and shipped. Then us guys at the dealers had to fix all the thin ,rough ,& spotted paint for warranty time.At the dealers I worked at most new St Louis built Corvettes were repainted before the owners were told they were in ....Bill
