    C3 4 speed vs. automatic frame...

    the 4 speed frame has a removable crossmember, the automatic's crossmember is permanent. What model year was this introduced?

      Hello George; You "flip-flopped" them. Automatics have the removable crossmember, manuals are fixed. Not 100% sure, but I think this began with the 68 model year. Hope this helps. Chuck
