    C2: Two '66 L79 part numbers needed

    1) Can anyone tell me if GM sells a replacement rubber boot for the bell housing thru which the clutch fork inserts? The original part # is 3844208, but this is GM discontinued.

    2) Can anyone tell me the part number for the chrome cover that goes over the choke thermostat for a '66 L79 engine? I can't find a number in my '66 AIM for just the chrome cover, but I believe GM sells just the cover.

    Thanks,

    Gary

Gary: no one repros the throw out fork rubber boot that is configured exactly like an original. the boots available from the aftermarket( and GM as recently as 2-3 years ago) will function but judges can tell. I don't think the choke thermo cover was chrome plated, it's cad plated on all my orig 66 vettes and available from long island corvettes(ad in driveline) good luck, mike

      Choke cover; not chrome

      Mike,

I think you might be right about the cad (or zinc?) and not chrome for the choke cover. I'm pretty sure GM still sells it, but I don't know the part number. Since I've got a GM order to place, I thought I'd try and get it thru GM.

Bummer about the clutch fork boot.

        Gary-----

The choke thermostat cover was zinc plated; it's still available from GM under GM #3864866. As Mike mentioned, the original clutch fork boot is long since GM discontinued. It's replaced by GM #14007355 which is configured slightly different, but is still available.
