NOS Parts questions

Hello,

Is GM part #3775190 Grease cap the same as it would have been in production for a 66? Did GM ever make an air cleaner cover for a 66 that might be available NOS and what is the part number if so?

Last of all is there a book or books that has part number information in it so that I can hopefully learn to figure some of this out for myself and how/where do you get one?

GM #3775190 was the original front wheel bearing grease cap used for 1963-67 Corvettes. It was discontinued in December, 1974 and replaced by GM #539153. The latter part is still available from GM. If you find a KNOWN ORIGINAL GM #3775190 it should be exactly correct.

The air cleaner cover for ALL 1966 Corvettes was originally GM #6421832. It remained available under that same number until it was discontinued in February, 2001.

Your last question is not so easy. As I have told folks on many occasions, there is no single reference that will provide you with all the information which you might seek relative to parts. An AIM and an edition of the Chevrolet Parts & Accessories Catalog issued during the same model year as your car would be 2 excellent references. Understanding and effectively using a P&A Catalog is not as simple as it might seem. The AIM is quite easy to use, however. Neither of the 2 above-referenced parts would be found in an AIM, though. Most other parts would.
