    Greg------

It's a later 1969 427 engine originally installed in a full size 1969 passenger car with 335 hp and THM 400 tranmsission. The car was built at the Wilmington, Delaware GM assembly plant and was the 44,036th car off the assembly line there for the 1969 model year. The engine was assembled on April 29, 1969.

      Joe,
Thanks for the expeditious and heartbreaking information. What is a good book to purchase that decyphers these codes. Best Regards, Greg Lantz
P.S. I will be looking for the original engine for my car VIN# 194377S121064 any suggestions?

Do you know what engine came with you car/hp? If you have the build sheet or invoice that tells you what options came with the car? As far as numbers, the Corvette Black book or the Catalog of Corvette ID Numbers 53-93 by Cars and Parts Magazine are both helpful. Based on your vin you have a 67 Coupe; I believe the 327 casting was 3892657 and the 427s casting number was 3904351, with 3869942 om early production amd 3916321 in late production.

          Rich,
I have no documentation on this car. I purchased the car in 1982 and have never put it on the road. I'v had it stored at my shop since the purchase. The only piece of information that I have is the 1982 registration card.
I've had no luck trying to contact the previous owner.
When I purchased the car it came with a 454 installed and a blown engine that came out of the car, 2 X 3 Intake, carbs, air filter and ignition shrouding.
I bought the car from a friend that had purchased it the day before I bought it. He knew that I was looking for one. 22years ago I wasn't interested in it's history. I have the body off for resto at this time. Thanks for your input.

          Best Regards, Greg

Did you ever check the numbers of the blown engine or was that the 69 passenger engine Joe L ID'd for you? As far as correct blocks for your car, you should check Hemmings or put an add in Driveline. I have a guys name in CA that might has a number of blocks email me if you want his number and I'll look for it.
