    '72 seat covers & a Part number

    Hello,
Two quick questions. I have a '72 BB
    1) Can someone describe what vinyl seat covers are like compared to leather. My seats seem to be vinyle weave in the middle and leather on the edges. Now the seats are 30 years old and I am not a fabric guy so it may all be vinyl but the edges do seem to be leather. The car has loop carpet and not the upgrade to cut pile. Can these be leather seats with loop carpet? I am replaceing the seat cushions and covers and need to figure this out before I buy the covers.

    2) I am looking for the GM part number for the 30amp circuit breaker under the dash, drivers side on the fuse box. Mine is gone and need to buy another. Also what all does the breaker control?

    Thank you,
    Brandon

PS. This is my first vette. Its been a childhood dream to buy one and work on it. If I only work for ten minutes on the car I got a smile for the rest of the day. It's a beautiful thing!

    Brandon,

Leather seats for 1972 were completely leather, including the horizontally pleated centers. They did not have the Comfort Weave insert.

Now, someone might have changed or upgraded yours along the way, but if the sides are leather they are not the way the factory installed them.

Brandon Your trim tag will tell what seat covers you should have in your 72. Don't worry about what it has now if you want it original. Lyle

        Lyle,
True to being a novice I didn't even think of that. I have the loop caret, you couldn't get loop carpet with leather seats could you?

My trim tag says 400. If I am not mistaken this is black vinyl interior. I do have another code that I do not know what it means, it is in the upper right of the tag reading "C22". Does anyone know what that means? I thought I found it a while back but I forget were I found the info and what it ment.

          thanks,
          Brandon

            It's time to buy....

a copy of the '70-72 Judging Guide. This book will answer MOST of the questions you're going to ask as you become more familiar with your new 'baby'.... The other emboss on the trim tag is your body build date. C= the third month of 1972 production and '22' indicates the 22nd day of that month.

You are right. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

              Thank you for the reply.

Brandon You are correct that loop carpet went with vinyl seats but Bubba may install anything. Lyle
