    Wiper Arm Pivot/Rivet? C2

Has anyone found a 2-piece rivet for reassembling the wiper arm head to the stainless arm section? In the rivet world, I believe these are called "compression rivets". One side is tubular, and the other side is a solid shank which presses in. No muss, no fuss.

Or... do you have no choice but to use a solid rivet and try to peen it over without scarring up your nicely polished stainless?

I contacted TRICO, but they were not able to provide any useful information.

    TIA, Mike

    Mike,
Try www.vettegal.com. Mary Jo*s catalog lists these rivets for $3 a pop.

Mary Jo's rivet is a one-piece tubular item. so it does require some sort of peening/setting. And the result will not have the OEM look.

The tubular syle rivets were used in certain places (like upper arm to lower arm attachment). Paragon offers a turn-key restoration service (including the replacement of chewed chromed pot metal lower drive hubs), so I suspect they have tooled a rivet vendor to supply them with correct style, original SS rivets. Why not call and see if they'll sell you the rivets only?

Typically, rivet mfgrs WILL make whatever you desire, given a sample of what you're after. The Catch-22 is they want to make a commercial run (usually 1000 or so). But, the price in bulk isn't really that bad IF you make a side business of selling the excess of the run....

I used the Paragon Service for my 67 arms, I had one arm with a polished pivot the other was satin. Not sure how this came about but I sent them both arms and they did a restoration including replacing the polished pivot with a brushed pivot new tension spring etc. They did a very nice job and sent back the used or should I say old parts. I thought the price was resonable and they did excellent work. I would definately use them again if needed, rather than trying to do this myself.
