    1957 BODY

    WHAT IS THE ESTIMATED WEIGHT OF A 1957 BODY WITHOUT THE DOORS; HOOD; TRUNK; GAS TANK; WINDSHIELD/FRAME & RADIATOR ????

    CAN THE BODY BE PLACED UPSIDE DOWN WITHOUT DAMAGING IT???

      (1) Weight; beats me....you're asking for partial sub-assy specs and official pubs only quote completed vehicle specs like curb weight.

      (2) Can it be turned upsided down, sure! One fella in our club made a 'rotissery' for his mid year (a steel frame plane attaching to the body at traditional mount locations + appropriate support for the nose). She spins around effortlessly--a great tool if you've got significant restoration work to do on the body's undercarriage.

          I'd guess about 400 pounds. Just had a 54 upside down on some saw horses finishing the bottom side. No problems! It's right side up and sitting on a chassis now. Six of us turned it each way with no problem.

                  Just turned my 59 over. Using a flat dolly with 2x4's with carpet on top. 2x4's at the deck and cowl. Very solid and no damage.
