Is it possible to change speedometer gears in Borg Warner T10 transmission while the transmission is installed in the car? Does the mount need to be removed to get at it?

As long as you are talking about the driven gear only, yes it can be changed. I don't recall for certain but I don't remember having to remove the mount.Bill Clupper #618 -

As I recall it can be done. I seem to remember that the plastic gear can slide into the transmission case so be careful.Comment

as mentioned above if you are talking about the driven gear it is fairly easy to do. There is a 3/8 bolt that holds the keeper in place. Remove the bolt and pull the housing out of the tail piece. There is an o-ring around the housing so it may take a firm tug to remove it. The gear and shaft piece is loose in its housing so be careful not to lose it down the hold as you remove the housing from the tailpiece. If yor are talking about the driver gear you have to remove the whole tailpiece to get at it.Comment
