    Apology

    HI,

Guess I owe the board an apology for posting a 'wanted 65/66 BB roadster' yestarday. I found it was removed and then read thru the rules and saw we shouldn't do such things. Sorry, new to the board. Hope I didn't offend anyone

      Re: Apology

Sorry to hear that - On the other hand why not suggest a separate buy/sell/trade forum?

Clearly there is a desire and need for it (note that this is not exactly the same thing as an online version of the Driveline). You are not the first to get spanked. And you won't be the last. If it helps there are oodles of Corvette BBs out there w/ dedicated buy/sell/trade/wanted forums within them separate from their respective 'discussion' forums. FWIW you can place an add online for the the next paper issue of Driveline presuming you are a member. My gut feeling is that wanted ads for Corvettes may not net leads on 'great' deals compared to hunting one up but what the heck.

I personally think the BB could be set up w/ separate forums for 1) "Technical Discussion" 2) "Buy/Sell/Trade" 3) "NCRS Activities" (like road tours, announcements, events and such...). To me it would seem more logical to simply create appropriate additional forums to meet member needs within the BBS (which as far as I know supports multiple forums as easily as one) than to go around policing the one single forum. However I wouldn't suggest bothering to archive these add'l forums as their nature is only of value in a 'current' sense.

Good luck on your search Kirk!

            On Line Driveline

Shorty before I joined NCRS in October, I noticed a banner message on the index page of the NCRS web site. It said "On-line Driveline Ads. It was more than likely referring to the on-line service to place a Driveline ad in the physical newspaper. However, I too agree that an on-line classified ad version of the parts for sale/wanted section of Driveline would no doubt increase NCRS "value through membership". Speaking for myself, I would look forward to investing in an ad for parts needed for my '60 restoration with a group of knowledgable enthusiats.
            Sincerely,
            Tom Spurgeon

The online Driveline has been discussed for many years. For what I believe are sound reasons the National Board is not currently considering it. Welcome Kirk. Don H.

Yes, but two low-ball easy options exist

Interesting - I've never heard of it being online - simply the ad placement option is online as a convenience as much to Driveline as you and I which is surely what must have been meant.

                My dos centavos...

A sophisticated interactive real time parts classified system online is what's really needed and it's NOT a trivial task to implement. Besides I think it's a bit late - as I've mentioned before the epay juggernaut has already come and gone so how much success can be had from such an online system? How would success be defined?

                Low Ball Options:
                - On the other a simple electronic version of it available online would be simple enough I would think available for download 6 times a year. This is NOT an online interactive version but merely a downloadable electronic copy. It would allow searches which would be nice. If the Driveline generates revenue, one would think this would only serve to enhance that function - more views...

                - The other is simply having a separate forum for buy/sell/trade. Most sites w/ discussion boards have separate forums for this very purpose and AFAIK this system supports multiple forums. THis would NOT replace Driveline by any stretch of the imagination - merely offer a needed service that is currently requiring someone to police it off this particular forum anyway. All I'm saying is don't sit here and blow against the wind and try to outlaw Halloween - expect that kids to either trick or treat and provide them w/ a safe place to do it.
