Looking for rear vents for '71

I'm looking for a pair of rear deck vents with original lacquer paint for my coupe. The ones I have are steel city gray and I need 989 warbonnet yellow. Any details please email me at gordonp@us.ibm.com

You might find 'em, but odds the paint is in original/concours condition is miniscule. Suggest, you blast what you have and get it repainted. Can order lacquer using original/custom blend codes documented in '72 Corvette Parts Manual (NCRS library, or have your Chevy dealer lookup for you) as well as M.F. Dobbins Fact Book. An air brush is pretty cheap ($40-80 range) and it's simple to mix the paint and lay down a fresh coat on small parts such as these and/or do random touch-up....

I've seen touch up kits from Mid America with a bottle sprayer, but I didn't know how close the color or paint would look.

Can't advise you there (off-the-shelf exterior pre-blend). The good thing going for you is there's a natural body segment here and any minor color difference will be 'hidden' by the parting line transition.

'71 War Bonnet Yellow is:

Lucite # 5292LM Ditzler # 2351 Rinshed-Mason # A-2464LF

From the Corvette Parts Book. An air brush is pretty cheap (major tool store, hobby shop, painter supply center) and they're easy to use. With a spray can, you're limited to how small an area you can lay down (paint an entire section or panel). With an airbrush you CAN do smaller areas AND you're all set-up to work on those minor dings that need to be re-touched from time to time....

Below the rear vents there is a blackout paint, in the body, as the JG explains. Did they use the same paint present in the engine bay? Thanks in advance, Roberto NCRS #30019 RMC
