    Re: Break-in procedures

Thanks Richard for the brak in procedure.
The only thing I can't do is the driving portion as paint has been stripped from body, all bumpers, hood, and lights removed so it would be a real target for the police and it is not registered.
I have run it in the garage today several times at varying RPMs for 30minutes to an hour at a time so it could properly warm up. Runs so smoooooth and not a trace of smoke or leaks. Excellent oil pressure and temp holds steady no overheating. Life is good.

      Kurt:

Sorry it took so long to get back. What's done is done, and you probably didn't damage anything, but the procedure I have seen most often, and what I follow, is to get all adjustments as close as possible(valve lash, carb and distributor). PRIME THE OIL PUMP. Fire the engine and let it run at 1500-2000 RPM for 20-30 minutes(I prefer 1500), while closely monitoring engine temp. Shut it off, drain and replace oil and filter. Restart and make final carb, distributor, and valve lash adjustments.

      Good luck,
      Joe
