I am installing the carpet in my car and don't understand which way the flap is cut to allow the seats to be bolted to the floor. Does the flap from the cut face the door? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Pictures anyone?

Re: 65 coupe carpet
I have installed a few carpet sets on mid-years and I was told the flap should face away from the door. That way the bolts are not visible when the door is opened. No one has had a problem with that arrangement.- Top

Re: 65 coupe carpet
-------65 and 66 Vettes had long slots cut all the way from the rear hook on the floor to just forward of the front bolt hole. There are flaps over the two front bolt holes and they do face inward. These slots and flaps were die-cut and all the same,so any variance would be incorrect.
-------Plus,if you dont cut the slots the seat track cant sit down flat on the floor as it was meant to.Then when you tighten the front bolt all the way down you can actually warp the seat track and it will not work as well as it was intended.
-------You need to see some good pics of original 65-6 carpets,as well as get some exact measurements.I actually have some original fronts I have kept for patterns, but have no way to get you pics.Hopefully someone else will be able to help..................Bill S- Top
