Hi... I'm going to look at a 69 that is supposedly an original big block car. I was hoping someone could post a list of rear end codes so I can see if the diffy code corresponds. Also did all 69 big blocks come with electronic ignition or was that optional? I assume that if there is evidence of an expansion tank installation then its def. an orig small block. Thanks in advance! Brandon

Re: 69 differential codes/ elec ign.
Brandon-----
1969 big block differential codes were:
AY=2.73
AT=3.08
AV=3.08
AW=3.08
AZ=3.55
FA=3.70
FB=4.11
FC=4.56
Transistor ignition (K-66) was required with L-71, L-71/L-89, L-88, and ZL-1. It was optional with L-36 and L-68.
ALL 1969 Corvette big blocks used an external radiator supply tank. This was used with BOTH the copper/brass radiators used with all except L-88 AND the aluminum radiator used with the L-88/ZL-1. It was the same external supply tank as used with small blocks and aluminum radiators. The only 1969s which did not use the external supply tank were small blocks with AC and/or THM and some later L-46s.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 69 differential codes/ elec ign.
B not able to post you diff codes but i believe k66 ti ign only avail on 435 horse 427 and high per small block and of course the 427-425 and alum head bb. i would look for rear sway bar - indicating bb. and expansion tank was used on my 435 not knowledgable to state on others but someone will jump in here and further your education.- Top
