    C1 Door Weatherstrip Question

I am installing door weatherstripping and am having trouble getting the proper fit. The car came to me without any weatherstripping and newly painted so I cannot see previous strip locations. I am having trouble getting door weatherstripping/body contact without the weatherstripping rubbing the fenders during door closing. Is this normal? If I place the weatherstrip on the door at a location where it won't rub the fender edge I have one big visual gap in the forward rocker panel area of the right door. On the left side regardless where I place the stripping on the forward part of the door I get contact on the fender when closing the door. I am following the pictures of the ST12 Service Guide. Need some help.

Its a 1956. In addition the door gaps are Ok after door closing. My door sills are missing but I don't think they are shaped such they would close the right door gap mentioned.

        Allen,
1-15, Figure 28 in the ST-12 pretty much tells you exactly where the w/s is located. Yes, I recall at one time some contact with the edge of the fender. Don't think there is contact now. I don't know what changed. If the w/s is in the proper location (and the door is in the proper position) there isn't much you can do about it. Regards,
