Thirty years ago I replaced the engine in my 62 with a crate engine. Can someone
tell what I have?The casting # is 3959512 with a F 8 4 casting date.The engine pad has 2 sets of numbers.The top number is S0819xc13 and the bottom number G 5n20277.
I know this block was used from 62-67 but havent a clue of its HP or CR.
This block casting is a 327 or 350 cid engine that was used for SERVICE and some truck applications. It was released in 1969 and used for several years thereafter. The "xc" coding MAY identify this as a 1969 255 hp 350 used for truck applications. If so, it is, essentially, the same engine as the 300 hp Corvette and passenger car.
The cylinder heads might reveal a little more about it. I can't decipher anything else from the stamped codings.
